Kibale National Park
One of the best places to view chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Kibale National Park is a dense tropical rainforest located in Uganda’s Western Region. Kibale has one of the highest diversities and concentrations of primates in Africa. With 13 species, including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys and L’Hoest’s Monkeys. Additionally the park is also home to some 350 species of birds, and other mammals, including bushbucks, buffaloes and forest elephants.

Chimpanzees
There are five habituated groups of chimpanzees in Kibale which can be visited twice a day – at 8:30am and 3:00pm, and is limited to 6 guests per group. Once with the chimpanzees, visitors can spend an hour with them, as they go about their day.
Although chimpanzees are the prime attraction, numerous other primates and birds can be spotted during these 2-3 hour treks. Advance bookings are highly recommended to secure the permits.
Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Unique to Kibale National Park – the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience. An exhilarating full day trek through the forest, allowing the visitor to spend time with the chimpanzees from morning til dusk. It is a truly memorable experience to take a peek into their daily lives and get a better understanding of them.
Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
Created to protect the small, but impressive Magamba Swamp. The Bigodi Wetlands are home to numerous birds and primates. The guided bird trail here is one of the best. It is an attractive prospect for seeing primates and a huge number of bird species within a few hours.
