Best time for Visiting
We highly recommend for this itinerary to be enjoyed from June to October, taking advantage of the dry season in Zambia.
The best time for watching wildlife in South Luangwa National Park is during the dry season, which takes place from July to October. From about October to December the weather tends to get really hot. If you’re a first time guest to South Luangwa, we recommend that you plan a trip between June – September. During the dry season, the Luangwa River becomes a gathering place for animals as they emerge from the high-temperature, bush areas in search of the river’s clean water. Some lodges are open during the ‘Emerald Season’ when the rains turn the dry landscape into a lush, green oasis and the birthing season begins Most lodges operate seasonally – from the end of March until the end of October.
The Lower Zambezi, like most of Zambia is very seasonal. July to October is the dry season and is the ideal time to visit Lower Zambezi for wildlife viewing. This is due to water sources in the bush drying out, leaving animals with no choice but to congregate around the river, making them relatively easy to spot, although October can be extremely hot. May, June, October and November are also good times to visit. January – April most camps are usually closed.
Victoria Falls is a year round destination, however that being said, depending on your interest for the destination there are certain factors to consider. From February to May the river is flowing at its greatest volume, showcasing the largest sheet of falling water, the weather is also pleasant at this time.
